HBO is the largest and best known Premium service, creating some of the best original series ever to air on TV, including The Sopranos, The Wire, Sex in the City and current shows like Game of Thrones and Veep.
Since HBO owns the rights to the majority of these original series, they were able to begin exploring ways to allow customers access to these programs on other screens earlier than most content providers. Their service, called HBO Go, allows subscribers to watch a library of HBO programming on iPads, smart phones and other similar devices.
Armstrong has been in discussions to add this feature to our HBO offering for many months and we’re making progress.
HBO has concentrated on the 4-5 largest cable companies in the country to get this product off the ground. They recently completed a deal with Time-Warner (the 2nd largest cable operator in the U.S.)
There is a significant amount of effort necessary on both HBO’s and the cable operator’s part in order to make everything work seamlessly for our customers. By working with the larger operators, HBO was able to maximize the number of subscribers that can use this new service. To date, most mid-sized (like Armstrong) and smaller cable operators have not launched this product.
Content availability on more screens is definitely a hot topic throughout the cable industry. It’s also becoming more important for a growing segment of our customers as they purchase iPads and other devices that can display video. Armstrong customers can expect to start gaining additional access to an ever-increasing amount of content in the coming months.

There is alot the local competition offers that we dont have.
I too would like to have this feature and have also been asking about in frequently. It’s nice that Armstrong finally released a formal statement but actually getting it up and running would be a great thing.
Finally, a statement about HBO Go; giving some type of update. I’ve been calling and requesting this critical feature, that just about all the local competition already offers. I’ve been told that it’s coming, just watch for us to advertise it. Maybe I can check back here, for an update. Thank you. Let me know if you need beta testers.
